The Karma Foundation
Good Karma
Ultra high-end events are still a staple of the jet-setting, taste-making, movin’ and shakin’ elite despite the rather unsavory economic conditions that have befallen the masses. It seems good Karma is upon the many well heeled individuals like never before as their appetite for exclusive events is stronger than it has been in recent years.
Here at the Karma Foundation, we produce events of a scope and scale rarely seen the world over. Examples of which include Kandyland, now in its 4th year at the Playboy Mansion; the nexus of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory and Alice in Wonderland with psychedelic decadence abound for the world’s most beautiful women and discerning gentlemen. The much-anticipated annual end-of-summer Kandy Kruise is a full ship charter of a luxury cruise ship for weekend in Mexico replete with non-stop parties, fashion shows, fine dining, and lavish libations for nearly two thousand invited guests. Aside from the larger Kandy events, Karma produces a line of Luxe events designed exclusively for the most privileged and selective of individuals in the world. Elements of these events include private jets, mega yachts, glamorous villas in paradise, motorcades of bulletproof limousines, ex-military private security, and the finest luxury amenities and accoutrements the world has to offer.
So how has a plummeting market affected our Members’ abilities to purchase our $1K to $50K event tickets, private shopping days, $15K evenings at the nightclub, customized supercars and the like? It hasn’t one bit and their relative purchasing power for exotic adventures and travel hasn’t diminished either. There are certain folks who are immune to market conditions of this kind, and they include people with inherited mega wealth and those who have built and sold companies. These are the people to whom we cater.
A popular assertion amongst our elite crew as to why our Members keep coming during these economic times is, “birds of a feather flock together.” When you become of the “have” category you seek to solidify your status and preserve your lifestyle by association with those who have a similar lifestyle. One taste of wealth and there’s no going back. Since success is very much about who you know, immersing yourself in experiences flush with successful individuals could very well help to perpetuate your own success.
There is another school of thought for why premium events like those of our larger-scale Kandy brand are selling out like never before. Our Eurocentric, glam-loving society compels the masses to idolize wealth, exclusivity, beauty and power. For the small price of $1,000, our invited guests can go to the ball and rub elbows with our elite Members. This is precisely why things like Cribs on MTV, DuPont Registry Magazine, The Robb Report, Monaco Yacht Show, state lotteries, and Dubai are so popular. People aspire to attain significant wealth and the ostensible lifestyle and security it provides.
Regardless of birthright class or self-made status, common or extraordinary, there will always be desire to have outrageous, over-the-top and sensational experiences that inspire wonder, enliven souls, and benefit the world at large. To that extent, I am happy to keep the good Karma flowing.
Some of Karma’s events over the next 12 months include:
Member-only San Diego, CA weekend retreat on 1/24/09
Kandy Masquerade at the Playboy Mansion on 2/28/09
Mega Yacht Luxe Event in Bahamas in April of 2009
Member-only Palm Springs, CA weekend retreat on 5/23/09
Kandyland at the Playboy Mansion on 6/13/09
Member-only Las Vegas, NV weekend retreat on 8/15/09
